About Daniel Tal

Daniel Tal, FASLA, is a landscape architect, author, software developer, and lecturer. With over two decades of experience in the field, he is known for his expertise and passion for the industry.

As the Digital Studio Manager for Confluence, a leading landscape architecture firm with offices in nine locations, Daniel oversees 3D planning projects, trains staff in using cutting-edge 3D methods, and is responsible for business development, R&D, and drone operations. He is dedicated to maintaining Confluence’s position as a leader in digital landscape architecture practices through innovative modeling and software development.

Daniel is the author of three books published by Wiley and Sons, including “SketchUp for Site Design,” “Drones in Professional Practice,” and “Rendering in SketchUp.” His books have sold over 30,000 copies.

Daniel is also the creator and owner of two software apps, PlaceMaker (www.suplacemaker.com) and UrbanPaint (www.sketchurbanpaint.com ), which are used in SketchUp and Revit. These tools were developed to enhance the 3D modeling for architects, landscape architects, planners and 3D modeling professionals and aid in practice.

Daniel regularly presents at national conferences, including the 2022 SketchUp Basecamp in Vancouver and the American Planning Association National Conference in San Diego. He operates a website, www.danieltal.com, offering free SketchUp tutorials and resources to students and attendees of his lecture events.
